Archaeologists analyze material remains to gain insight into past human lives. They can choose to study various aspects of human society, such as social organization, economic systems, religious beliefs, and cultural practices. They may also investigate specific events or historical periods, such as the rise and fall of ancient civilizations or the impact of colonialism on Indigenous peoples. The ultimate goal of archaeology is to better understand our shared human heritage and to preserve it for future generations.
