Job Title: Archaeological Field Technician

Job Description:

• an interest and knowledge of history and archaeology.

• apply archaeological theory and methods in various field investigations to reconstruct the past

• conduct pedestrian and arial surveys of the landscape using a variety of technology

• use scientific techniques to excavate archaeological sites and conduct sub-surface inspections

• recognition and proper collection of archaeological artifacts and material

• find and assess archaeological sites including mapping and recording field notes

• engagement with community members, First Nations, and other stakeholders

• participate in Taiga’s safety program.

Skills and Qualifications:

• an interest and knowledge of history.

• knowledge of sociology and anthropology for understanding society and culture

• to be thorough and pay attention to detail

• persistence and determination

• excellent verbal communication and analytical thinking skills

• must be able to conduct field work in remote locations and be comfortable in the field

• candidates should be able to perform physically demanding tasks in various environments

• must have valid driver’s license.
