Popular perception of the Maya refers to this culture as a 'lost' or 'mysterious' civilization that suffered an abrupt and total societal collapse in the 10th century, vanishing without a trace. Archaeological and living Maya culture across Central America debunks this false narrative, especially the Ka'kabish - Lamanai Corridor in Belize.
